Pinwheel Stars

This is a fun quilt to make with your stash of 2 1/2" strips. You'll learn to make half-square triangles from strips, two ways to do Mary's Triangles, folded corners, and we'll talk about several ways to make pieced sashing that adds complexity to your design without adding difficult stitching. You'll be amazed at how simple it is!  We'll work on a 2-block version in class that you can use for a table runner or wall hanging. If you want to make your quilt larger, you'll only need to purchase more background -- you can get the rest from your stash.

Supply list for 28" x 48" runner or wall hanging:

Fabric:
Background: 1 3/4 yards
2 1/2" x 22" strips for stars: 15
2 1/2" x 22" strips for accent (Pinwheel center): 2
Sashing stars: 1/2 yard assorted prints

You'll also need a 4 1/2" square of template plastic or a Magic Triangle ruler (I'll have them available in class.)

If you want a larger quilt, this is the amount of background you will need:
Lap -- 3 1/4 yards;  Twin -- 5 1/2 yards;  Queen -- 7 3/8 yards.

Please cut the following before you come to class.  This is enough for the 2 block quilt. We'll cut the rest of the fabric in class.
